History of the Show
The show has a very rich history. The first edition was hosted in New York City in 1967 and had over 17,500 people in attendance with over 100 exhibitors. Then, the Las Vegas edition would usually hold in January at Winter Consumer Electronics Show. The another one in Chicago in June as the Summer Consumer Electronics Show. For example, it was at the 2013 edition of the show that Samsung announced the multi-views TV display and flexible OLED TV Display. It was at the show the same year that Sony announced the Sony Xperia Z Smartphone, while Samsung announced the Galaxy S2 plus Smartphone, and Research in Motion showed off the Blackberry 10 touchscreen phone.
At the 2015 edition, ground-breaking inventions were also brought to fore. It was there that Toshiba announced the ChihiraAico, a robotic hostess. Samsung at that event unveiled SmartThings, a system that develops a hub and cloud infrastructure for connecting devices together.
The 2016 edition of the event was renowned for the heavy security presence and full bag searches because of the global scourge of insecurity.
